The RCBS Hand Case Neck Turner is designed to"peel" the brass from the outside of your case necks to a consistent thickness. Most commercially available brass has variances in the case neck thickness. This leads to case neck concentricity and bullet runout issues. Truing up the neck cases produces more consistent and accurate hand loaded ammunition. The cutter portion uses caliber specific pilot/mandrels (sold separately) to guide the case neck. The cutter design features the ability to "zero" the cutter to the pilot/mandrel and then use the micrometer adjustment to dial the desired case neck thickness in .0005 increments. The cutter can also be set for right or left handed use. The Quick Change Case Holder has many advantages over the competition. Most other units use "tap wrench" design to hold cartridge cases. Though this is great for threading holes with a self feeding tap, it does nothing to feed your case neck to the cutter. The RCBS Quick Change Case Holder features an ergonomic design that allows you to rotate the case AND put forward pressure to feed the case neck to the cutter. The quick case change feature helps to speed up the process without having to use small, obtrusive thumbscrews.

The Primer Pocket Cleaner insures consistent primer detonation by cleaning the powder residue left in the primer pockets after firing. If the residue is not cleaned out of the pocket, the primer will not seat properly. The scraper is mounted in the cutter shaft in place of the pilot. The center is placed in the collet. The same center is used with both large and small scrapers. This method is more accurate and faster than using a hand held scraper.

The Forster Outside Neck Turner will turn your case neck concentric to its true axis. It is superior to any hand held turner that is centered by only the pilot. This unit produces neck walls of uniform thickness and exact outside neck diameters. The unit consists of a cutter head which carries an adjustable circular carbide cutter. The tool will turn any diameter between .17 and .375. (Note: .17 caliber requires special length carbide cutter and a .17 caliber case turner collet shaft.)

The short pilot used in case trimming is replaced by an extra long, hardened and ground pilot. As the wall of the neck passes progressively between the pilot and the cutter, the neck wall thickness is reduced to a uniform thickness. You can control the rate of feed by rotating the feeder cam and a mechanical stop controls the length of the cut. To change calibers, lust change pilot and make the cutter adjustments. Remember that cases to be neck turned must first have the neck resized and expanded.

Pressure inside the rifle causes the brass to flow forward until it becomes necessary to remove the excess material from the neck walls. The Forster Neck Reamer (mounted in the cutter shaft in place of the pilot), removes that excess brass. The Neck Reamer is made of high grade, wear resistant tool steel and is ground to special tooth design so the brass is cut smoothly, without chattering. Neck reaming is done after firing and before you full length or neck size the case. Wall thickness may be measured with a tubing micrometer, but for a faster check, slide a bullet into the unsized neck of the fired case. If you feel interference, then it’s time for inside neck reaming or outside neck turning.
